Everything about this story was bad. I’m going to be blunt. This was written like a little teeny bopper and I’m pretty sure that this girl amy be a teenager, but isn’t five. There is basically no indication thought to how old she is, well there is, she’s 29, but she doesn’t act it!, and her name was only used twice which didn’t help because I totally forgot who she even was. The whole thing with her family and the bear curse was just weird. It wasn’t explained very well and just in an awkward situation with her grandmother, who just up and left. Like wth?

Then you fast forward I don’t know how long and then you have her with a guy who seems great, but then is a brea too, but he is a shapeshifter, and is supposed to kill her, but doesn’t. It was just all too much for me. Not to mention the sex was pretty lame and focused more on him getting it up than the experience itself.

Final Thoughts:
This story was only 27 pages long so I couldn’t expect much from it, well, actually I could have, but didn’t to spare myself. This was way worse than I thought it was going to be. I’m not interested in reading another one like this.

Over whelmed by such a tale. Paranormal romance the stuff that twilight should have included. A teenage female were-changeling is pretty tantalising.
I’d love to hit a dating site that includes this type of girl who doesn’t seem to encounter the wear & tare of normal humans. But she’s still sad that she couldn’t
Originally make proper relationships & yet comes to terms with her predicament.
Quite funny bits when she finds herself on a night mare date with a pompous yuppie. Really sexy story makes you wish you had a hot tub.
Me & my partner really enjoyed this very much. Give yourself a treat unleash your inner beast you won’t regret it.

ans of fantasy, mystery and history will freakin' love the Secret Fire

The Secret Fire is the first book in the young adult fantasy series, The Alchemist Chronicles. The Alchemist Chronicles is the collaborative efforts of french author Carina Rozenfeld and young adult author C.J. Daugherty. This was my first book by either of these authors and I have to say it was so well done. I loved the idea that these two teens, in two different countries could be brought together through the strange, magical and completely different things happening to each of them. The Magic Fire is a whirlwind adventure, that spreads generations and countries. I love the mixture of history, the beautiful settings and the fatastical and magical secrets that surround the characters in the Secret Fire.

The Secret fire is told in dual narrative between Sacha and Taylor, two teens that each have something crazy happening in their own lives. Taylor is only just learning that something strange is happening to her throughout the story. We get to experience all she is going through for the first time with her, while Sacha has known for as long as he can remember what is up with him. He can't die until he is 18. It is a strange concept to have short term invincibility, but I loved the twist on the family curse idea.

There are so many questions still lingering by the end of this book. I can't wait to get the next book in the The Alchemist Chronicles, because it feels like there is still so much more to come. We did get a lot of answers to the mystery surrounding the two teens, but holy cow there is so much more! Not to mention, I think the romance is building for the next installment, and I cannot wait! Fans of fantasy, mystery and history will freakin' love the Secret Fire. This is going to be a great series.

There is a deadly curse. Intrigued, yet?

“Despite herself, Taylor couldn't help noticing that when Sacha smiled he was really good looking. His cheeks were ridiculous.”

Well, despite myself, I couldn’t help noticing that this description was a bit much, and came off more humorous than heated. But, I’m also not thirteen. The Secret Fire, by C.J. Daugherty, is the first installment in The Alchemist Chronicles. It was an admirable fantasy attempt that was a bit light in character and plot developments.

Perhaps it is because The Secret Fire was originally written in French, and meanings tend to be lost in translation (despite being translated by Ms. Daugherty, herself), but I thought the main characters lack qualities of authenticity and believability. Taylor is quite an impressive character—if you enjoy straight-A students, top volunteer of the year, magically gifted, absolutely beautiful (but of course she doesn’t know that she is), and such perfections. Sasha is more enjoyable to read because he’s flawed, charming, and cursed to die by his 18th birthday, which relatively, made him more interesting and his character a bit more complex—if you can see past his ridiculous cheeks. *wink*

The romance between Taylor and Sacha was far from compelling, with Taylor quickly loosing interest in her high school boyfriend of almost 4 years for Sacha whom she’s barely known over a chat line. Her attraction was explained as, “He looked dangerous. And that danger had a magnetic force.” It’s unfortunate that young love was made out to be so ephemeral.

It was really disappointing and even strange that the antagonist—this dark practitioner—doesn’t actually show up. There are hints of him here and there, but nothing concrete. Surely, I could infer that there was a great evil force at work, but I would have really enjoyed the dark practitioner folded more generously into the story. It was his minions—the Bringers—that provided the main conflict. I understand this is a series, but I still felt that this was a critical piece missing.

Despite everything, I thought that the paranormal concepts were interesting. The magic and intrigue that surrounds Taylor’s alchemical power and Sacha’s deadly curse, and the action-packed adventure in the last few chapters concluded this first installment fairly well, carving the way for a potentially heftier sequel.

Great read!

Sacha Winters lives in Paris and has a curse upon his family that won’t allow him to die, that is until his 18th birthday. Taylor Montclair is a English student who is doing everything she can to get in Oxford, so when her French teacher asks her to tutor a French student in English via the internet she of course agrees since it will look good on her academic resume.

Taylor and Sacha soon find their lives are far more entwined than they would ever have guessed. Taylor just may be the one person who could save Sacha from his curse.

I’ve been on somewhat of a slump when it’s come to young adult fantasies being a bit boring to me for a while. Thankfully with The Secret Fire that completely wasn’t the case. The plot was just enough revealed to keep the pages turning and also make me want to continue on and find out where it will all go in the remainder of the series, so many possibilities to come.

Love the relationship with Taylor and Sacha. There is a reasoning behind them being together but yet it didn’t feel as if the authors were rushing them together and moving the relationship too quickly either.

This is really a typical formula for a young adult fantasy but it stood out on it’s own and had a plot and characters that kept me wanting to know more. Would completely recommend checking this one out.

Sad to See Series End

This is the third and final book of Ms Thurmeier's Reality TV series.

In this book we once again see the mysterious Zoe Oliver. In the second book, Stuck on You, we saw the hints that there was a depth to Zoe that explained her behaviour. We also get to see more of the mysterious producer Chip Cormack - the mastermind behind the reality shows in book one and two.

I was intrigued how the romance between the two was going to work as through the previous books we didn't see them interact. But Ms Thurmeier did a great job in creating a believable relationship between the two of them.

At times I got frustrated for Zoe, sure here reasons for her actions were huge but there was a couple of times she acted without thinking and I was rolling my eyes at her thinking sure she couldn't be that silly. But then again we the reader had an insight into Chip that Zoe didn't.

The journey to their HEA was littered with blackmail, pesky flirty contestants and being stuck in the woods without a decent shower, but a HEA was achieved and it was written in a truly fulfilling way.

I recommend that you pick this book up and you won't be disappointed. If you haven't read Falling for You or Stuck on You it won't matter with this book, but you'll want to read them after this one.

I thought that LOST WITHOUT YOU was a great way to conclude the Reality TV trilogy. It's set on a Survivor-based show where teams need to survive in the woods and compete in challenges for rewards and to escape elimination.

Our heroine, Zoe Oliver, has been a secondary character in the first two installments of the series, yet I feel like this whole trilogy was setup for her. I went through the full gamut of emotions regarding Zoe. She's not everyone's favorite person, but she gets redeemed a little bit in Book 2, and we begin to see that there may be some depth to her.

Everyone assumes Zoe is perfect. She looks perfect, from her clothes to her hair and makeup. She exudes confidence and usually gets what she wants. But we learn throughout LOST WITHOUT YOU that she has some serious skeletons in her closet. She keeps everyone at arm's length so no one will find out about her past.

Chip has been the producer of all three reality shows, so we've known him from the beginning of the series as well. Apparently he's had a crush on Zoe since he first laid eyes on her. He asks her to be a part of the third reality show, but instead of being a contestant, he chooses Zoe to be the host. Phew! No one wants to see her survive in the wilderness! He conveniently gets around his own rule of contestants and crew not engaging with each other - making Zoe part of the crew opens the door for him. Chip definitely makes his move, more than once, and gets very mixed signals from Zoe.

Zoe wants Chip as much as he wants her, and she does have her moments of weakness, but she somehow manages to push him away time after time. That got a little old for me. How many chances will she get with this great guy?

The transformation of Zoe was incredible, though. Heather Thurmeier did a great job in turning a hated character into an understood and even beloved character. There are some interesting secondary characters in Lost Without You as well. Alex and Rick, two contestants on opposing teams, give us some interesting scenes and twists and turns in the plot.

This is definitely the most secretive of all of the installments. We aren't sure what happened in Zoe's past and why she has these huge trust issues. We find out early on that Zoe was in a car accident when she was young and has some scars on her face that she doesn't like others to see. But can that be it?! No, it isn't. You'll have to read the book to find out the rest! :)

The series was wrapped up really nicely in LOST WITHOUT YOU. It ended by bringing all of the heroes and heroines back together, which was really fun to read! The installments are so incorporated into each other while remaining stand-alone books! Amazing!

BOTTOM LINE:
This was my favorite book of the series! It was the most realistic to me as far as a relationship that isn't perfect and doesn't start in the ideal way. They have real issues to work through and I liked that. If you like romance, reality TV, and an author with a few tricks up her sleeve, you should be reading this series!

Fans of author Heather Thurmeier's Reality TV Romance series, our wait is finally over! The third book of the series, Lost Without You, features Zoe's story! Yay!

Zoe Oliver is the bad girl/snarky bitch that America loved to hate in the first two books of the series. With hints of her story sprinkled in the other books, the reader's interest in reading about Zoe was peaked, and now we finally get to see who the real Zoe is when she returns to participate as the host in Wild Expedition, producer Chip Cormack's latest reality TV show!

Zoe's carefully cultivated facade of perfect hair, makeup, clothing, stiletto shoes and a standoffish bitchy persona is put to the test once again during a month in the Montana wilderness. A mutual interest between Zoe and reality TV producer Chip Cormack provides lots of sparks in a rugged camp setting. Even though Zoe fights their obvious attraction every time they get close, Chip is determined to break down her protective walls. With a very flirty contestant pursuing Zoe, and a blackmail attempt by another contestant who is from her childhood, Zoe's carefully hidden past is threatened to be revealed, and may ultimately cause her to lose a chance at happiness and love with Chip.

In the third book of the Reality TV Romance series, Lost Without You, author Heather Thurmeier weaves an entertaining tale of romance and intrigue that finally reveals the true story behind Zoe's public facade and persona. It is a story that will not disappoint the fans of this series. Set in the rugged Montana wilderness, the story is written in the third person narrative with alternating perspectives by Zoe and Chip. The reader follows Zoe and Chip's month long journey of developing a HEA relationship mixed in with the reality show's quirky trials and tribulations in a survival camp setting.

I really enjoyed how the author gradually revealed Zoe's hidden past, it kept my interest peaked as each little piece of the puzzle was revealed. I also enjoyed the backstory of Chip's attraction towards Zoe, since he was more of a mystery in the first two books of the series, it was fascinating to see how his plan to get close to Zoe once again was planned out and revealed. The author does a wonderful job of developing Zoe and Chip's relationship, it was intriguing, sizzling, emotional, and frustrating, it kept me turning the pages in search of how it would turn out for them.

While Zoe's hidden past and her developing relationship with Chip is the highlight of this entertaining story, the author also provides a reality show setting with a cast of quirky contestants who compete in a wilderness survival competition with humorous and dramatic trials and tribulations in true reality TV style. And if that isn't enough to peak your interest, all of our favorite cast of characters from the first two books in the series make a cameo appearance at the end of the book, which nicely wraps up the finale to the series in a thoroughly enjoyable way!

I really enjoyed reading each book in this series, but I have to admit that Lost Without You is my favorite! Zoe simply won me over, and even though I did enjoy her snarky persona in each of the books, I loved getting to know the real Zoe, as well as getting to know the mysterious Chip Cormack.

While each book in the series can be a stand alone read, I would suggest that you read the books in sequential order so you can enjoy the seamless flow of each story with intertwining threads running through them. This series of books is just like reality TV shows, they will get you hooked from the start!

it's a great book as we see the superior spider-man help wolverine realize what he needs and wants to do Wolverine no more?! After the events of "Killable," Logan has something to prove. Before he can take on Sabretooth again, he'll need to build himself back up, get better and stronger than he's ever been...but it's not as easy as he thought anymore. And when the normal channels don't seem to be working fast enough, Wolverine will soon find himself turning to other means of revenge. But what could make Logan turn his back on the school and his friends? Wolverine's training continues, and his sights are set squarely on Sabretooth...but can Logan fight back his demons, or is this the beginning of a Wolverine who's gone to the dark side

This kept me reading until the ending when an inexplicable resolution / explanation kicked in and I went "Huh? What was that about?" Apart from that, it's not a bad book with an intriguing set up. But it does veer a little off Wolverine territory - probably a little less primal and intense to what we're used to reading. The ending leads into another interesting chapter of Logan, but let's see if it works out well!

great book! one of the best wolverine books I have ever read. Wolverine is vulnerable! This is an examination of the the psyche of wolverine. This is pretty deep. The story is action packed. It's an xmen spy novel! I won't spoil it but lets just say that in order to survive wolverine has to live a double life. My only complaint is the art. It is a little cartoony but it doesn't take too long to get used to.
