~~ A phase diet that repeats itself weekly for 28 days ~~

The two page overview at the beginning of this summary (think DETAILED review) gives you a brief look into why the Fast Metabolism Diet was created, who for and what it entails. The diet lasts 28 days and appears to be very different from the other "typical" diets out there.

There are 8 Key Takeaways discussed in this book by Eureka. Each Key Takeaway is discussed in more depth (1-2 pages) afterwards. Here are a couple to whet your appetite:

#2 - "Some foods cause damage to the metabolism and should be eliminated from the diet while repairing the metabolic processes. These include wheat, dairy, soy, alcohol, caffeine, corn and added sugars."

#5 - A damaged metabolism cannot cope with minor deviations from the regular diet, leading to rapid weight gain after leaving the diet that caused the damage. A healthy metabolism happily burns extra calories for energy."

Dealing with stress is a hot topic in this book as it does affect your metabolism. It also appears that this diet is not ideal for vegetarians due to the high-protein phase. Fish is recommended but of course not all vegetarians will eat fish. Beans and nuts etc. are out in this phase due to their high carbohydrate content so vegetarians need to be ready to consume a lot of soy, five times a day!

The book is described as being written "in a chatty, casual tone". As a dietician to the famous, Haylie often discusses cases in the original book but never names names. There are no cases cited of when the diet did not work or about those for whom the diet may not be suitable for.

A Great Diet Plan

Any book about improving your diet is a good book in my opinion! Like numerous other people, I've always struggled with my weight. I've done a diet similar to this one before (cutting out wheat, dairy, soy, alcohol, caffeine, corn, and added sugars) and it worked wonders for me. Though, after moving to a new town and having my life filled with new stress from my job, I kind of fell back into a three meal plan from McDonalds. Whoops. But, in all seriousness, this summary of "The Fast Metabolism Diet" has some great pointers for avoiding the wrong kinds of foods, and ways to reduce stress in your life. Reduced stress generally means reduced weight, as you won't fall back to your comfort foods. I highly recommend this summary to anyone who just wants a few quick pointers on improving their diet.
