From the Author
Inspiration
The major source of my inspiration is nature and is reflected in all my work. I love the form and texture of coral reefs and all the creatures that inhabit them, Coral Bay in Western Australia is one of my most favourite places. As is the Kimberley Region - filled with open vistas and secretive gorges all painted in natures glorious colours and textures.
I am also completely fascinated by Ancient cultures, particularly Egypt and Central America. It is here that I gained a love of the night sky. Most ancients had an incredible knowledge of the stars, something that urban society has lost. It was ingrained in their culture, often being the driving force in their cultural development.
Another inspiration in my work is the everyday colour and patterns that surround us. At the beach I'm the one taking photos of the sand and seaweed instead of the view. Nature is the greatest designer! All of these influences combine and reflect in the colours and patterns that emerge from my work.
Techniques & Materials
I love all textiles, my Mother taught me to sew when I was 8 years old and my passion for textiles still grows and in recent years felting has become my primary passion. I love to push the boundaries of current felting techniques into the unknown, experimenting, tweaking and improving all the time. I use fine Merino wool, a variety of silks & natural fibres in seamless resist felt sculptures. Physically sculpting and forming wool fibres is a freeing experience.

Awards and shows
I have enjoyed participating in many shows around Australia and was privileged to have a feature exhibition "Synchronicity" of felt and silk evening gowns at the Geelong Textile forum and featured on the cover of TAFTA's Textile Forum Magazine. My other major achievement was Champion Beanie at the 10th Annual Alice Springs Beanie Fest with All Roads Lead.
