Excellent outline and useful review

This is a small pamphlet of only about 35 pages, but it is very well-organized and written to enlighten. Prof. Harari's book "Sapiens" is already a summary history of the human race. Even so, the intellectual framework of his book is worth exposing, which this very short pamphlet does do to a large extent. The "Key Takeaways" are listed, and this provides the framework. Following the list, there are brief, and cogent expansions on these points, that are very worthwhile to read, and take little time and effort. In addition, the author of the pamphlet provides a review which is somewhat more perceptive than the typical review (but a few of the "professional" reviews are certainly very comparable, and possibly preferable, to the review provided in the pamphlet in terms of insight). I read the book, and considered the framework important enough to have in the form of some short summary, which I, personally, do not wish to take the time to write. This pamphlet is, therefore, fairly handy for me. Because the framework is largely exposed in this pamphlet, I think this can be very highly recommended to people who do not have the time to read Prof. Harari's important book. His book is worth reading, and for those of us, like myself, who read his book, this short pamphlet is still to be recommended for capturing a lot of the intellectual framework of the book. Overall, the outline provided is excellent, and the review is one of the more revealing reviews, i.e. more insightful, than most.

A Perfect Companion Guide

As a Psychology major and history buff, I enjoy books that focus on human evolution, and "Sapiens" is the perfect thing for that. I had to read it a while ago for one of my college courses, but I didn't have the time to go and re-read it like I wanted to. This summary, in my opinion, is perfect. It highlights all the key details of the full book, and helped to refresh my mind on some of the things I had forgotten. I feel like this would also be a useful tool if you had to write a paper about it. Even if you don't have to read this for a class, I would highly recommend checking it out anyway. It's pretty eye-opening in some respects.

Special book for the thinking human!

made me re-think more than a few cherished assumptions! I gave a copy to a friend who blamed me for making him spend several weekends reading instead of working on his 'honey do list' - which got him in trouble :-) Great book! I have hundreds of science and related books (I am an old engineer who reads/studies several books at once at all times), but this book has made its way into the small group of 'special books' (just a handful of books) I keep separate for regular revisiting.

About the Author
Andre Belgrano is currently at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Aquatic Resources, Institute of Marine Research, Lysekil, and at the Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment (SIME), Gothenburg, in Sweden. He has held faculty positions in the United States at the University of Maryland, University of New Mexico, University of Washington, and was a visiting scientist at the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR), Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Dr Belgrano is broadly interested in ecological and evolutionary studies that use ecosystem status and trend data, for characterising relationships between diversity patterns and ecosystem functioning, which includes the effect of commercial fisheries, climate change and environmental variability.

His research approach is to use the broad concepts of macroecology, food webs theory and evolution to understand the underlying common rules governing ecosystem dynamics and functioning. Most of Dr Belgrano’s current work focuses on functional biodiversity, ecosystem-based management for marine fisheries, ocean health, governance, sustainability and resilience in aquatic systems.

Guy Woodward is Professor of Ecology in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London and Series Editor for Advances in Ecological Research. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including recent papers in Nature, Science and Nature Climate Change, with a strong emphasis on understanding and predicting how aquatic ecosystems and food webs respond to a wide range of biotic and abiotic stressors, including climate change, chemical pollution, habitat degradation and invasive species. Much of this work covers multiple scales in space and time and also a range of organisational levels - from genes to ecosystems. His research group and ongoing collaborations span the natural and social sciences, reflecting the need for multidisciplinary approaches for addressing the environmental challenges of the 21st Century.

Ute Jacob is a Research Scientist at the Institute of Hydrobiology and Fisheries Science, University of Hamburg, Germany. She has contributed to previously published books as well as high-impact peer-reviewed journal articles. BEST FIX-IT-AND-FORGET-IT YET!

I collect Phyllis Good's series of cookbooks and had to order this one. I'm impressed. This is her best Fix-It-and-Forget-It book yet. I love the larger size, with its color photos, and I love the collection of recipes. Almost every one of the 550 dishes is super easy. I own 3 different size slow cookers, and I intend to try many of these recipes. I'm always in the market for no-oven cooking since I live in Florida. Good's slow cooker books never disappoint, but if you haven't bought any yet, start with this one.

A whole lot of Yumminess Going ON

I usually don't review cook books but I could not resist sharing with everyone how AMAZING this cook book is.

I am a slow cooker lover. Especially as the days get short and school and work get busy. So when I was sent this book to review I got really excited. I poured through it looking for recipes I though my family would actually like and I would find easy to make.

I found too many to count so I narrowed it down to two recipes that I would try so as to give an honest review.

The first was country chicken. I chose this one because it used chicken thighs which my husband loves and I really don't care to cook.

Most importantly it did not involve browning or defrosting anything first.

Second we did the triple chocolate lava cake. I have never done a slow cooker dessert so I was a little dubious about it. I really had nothing to fear. not only was it also was it easy peasy to make but it was so delicious that my family has been begging me to make more.

That is a win in my book. I have been scoping out other recipes to try from here but wanted to get a review out so that others could enjoy this as much as I did.

Great cookbook for slow cookers.

Slow cooker -- watch out. I'm going to wear you out with all of these recipes. These recipes are some that I already had, but some that I didn't and I really enjoyed finding new things to cook. I'm 60 years old and have fallen into that "same old, same old" dinner offering schedule. This gives me some other options, and especially with football season and a house full of guests, I'm definitely looking for new ideas.

Funny and easy read.

I enjoyed the constant comparisons to a book for their lives and Dragon sex. Basically you use Dragon as your password. Enjoyed a few laughs and thought the characters were believable. I liked the straight preparedness of Noah and

Sexy with a story.

What a book! Control has it all. Jackson is a young good looking billionaire whose father was recently killed. The police and FBI are working on the case and until then Jackson and his best friend Noah are held up in one of the mansions after faking their deaths. Jen and her best friend Emily live next door. Jen and Jackson are in love and after a week together get serious. Jen reads a book about a sex game called Dragon and uses the contents in the book, along with Jackson, to fuel their lovemaking. The game is a game of domination and control. The safe word is Dragon and the sex in this book is well written and highly graphic. This book is sure to turn on any reader. The dialog between Noah and Emily is humorous and will keep you entertained.
