A Good Story But I Found The Length Of The Books Diasappointing

This is a good story. I won't repeat what other reviewers have shared about the plot and characters. My initial thought when I began reading these chronicles was surprise at how quickly I got through book one. Like all good stories book one got me curious and brought me back for books two and three. I'm curious about how the story unfolds but find myself hesitant to purchase book four.
My hesitancy stems from my disappointment in the length of these books. I was introduced to Jill Williamson through the Blood Of Kings books. Today I looked at the length of book two and book three in The Kinsman Chronicles. I was surprised to discover the books were the same length (160 pages). When I finished book three I felt as if I had been rushed along to the end. Seeking to uncover why I felt rushed in book three I looked at the Blood Of Kings books. These are 506, 512 and 512 pages. I thought these books were a good length and allowed the story to develop nicely in each book. By comparison The Kinsman Chronicles left me feeling like I had just read a comic rather than a book.
Honestly I am disappointed that the books in this series aren't even a third of the Blood of Kings books. Now I am beginning to understand why some series have over a dozen books instead of four or five. Two series I thoroughly enjoyed that had a number of titles is Malazan Book Of The Fallen (I think there are ten) and The Wheel Of Time (fourteen books). Each book has several hundred pages and makes me look forward to several hours of reading. I'm certainly not expecting anything like this from Jill but to drop from five-hundred pages to well under two-hundred is disappointing. I have to read three of these books to get close to the pleasure I got from the Blood Of Kings.
The Kinsman Chronicles have me wondering if I will get to enjoy a second pot of tea before I finish the book. Certainly not long enough to make a meal of unless it is a tea time snack.

Awesome Conclusion.

The End of All Things brings the first part of this epic saga to a close, and epic it certainly is. The world is literally breaking apart. The people of the five realms must evacuate, but before that can happen there are a lot of human problems to be overcome.
Things come to a head between Willek, his brother Janek, and their father King Echad. You can be sure that things will get worse before they get better. Meanwhile, Willek may have escaped the clutches of Charlen for now, but she's not letting him go without a fight, but by the time he figures our her plan, it might be too late.
As an ending this book is fantastic, but it's more than that. Think of this like the season finale of a TV series. It brings resolution, but sets up the next chapter.
Apocalyptic stories often end with a near end-of-the-world event. Those who survive then have the challenge of building a new world. Sadly, so many stories finish there. I often find that the re-building will be the greater story, the bigger challenge. What I like about this series is we're going to see that story unfold in the next book.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the three novellas that have made up King's Folly, and consider it amongst my favourite fantasies. Jill Williamson may just have what it takes to become the Brandon Sanderson of Christian fiction. I can think of no higher praise.

Jill Williamson has managed once again to build a world that is fascinating and populate it with compelling characters. I get so caught up in the books, I lose far too much sleep. Onward across the sea.
